KENOSHA, Wis. – The University of Chicago wrestling team won its third dual meet of the weekend by rolling past Carthage College 40-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Maroons improved to 3-1 on the season while the Firebirds fell to 0-7.
Visiting UChicago claimed all 10 weight classes on the day, with five matches securing bonus points.
Matt Perez led things off with a 14-4 major decision at 125 points. He was followed by decision wins from Sean Conway at 133 pounds (14-7) and Vincent Menozzi at 141 pounds (9-70. Ryan Fleck (149 pounds) picked up a forfeit. Drew Vlasnik was next with a 10-5 decision (157 pounds) and Darian Estevez racked up 20 points in his major decision at 165 pounds. At 174 pounds, Tyler Joseph came away the 9-4 victor. Wyatt Haynes stretched his pin streak to three-straight at 184, and Danny Lingen dominated in his 16-1 technical fall win at 197. Cole Fibranz closed out the lineup with an 8-3 decision at heavyweight. Fleck was able to get in an extra match at 157 pounds, where he scored a 16-0 technical fall.
