Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The University of Chicago softball team absorbed a 9-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University at the IWU Softball Tournament on Saturday.
The Maroons dropped to 4-7 while the Titans improved to 10-7.
IWU was in control throughout the contest, scoring in five out of the six innings played. The Titans tallied two runs in the first inning, one run in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth. The hosts then ended the game via run rule in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-run homer to center field.
UChicago concluded with two hits and two errors committed. Junior Julia Folkl and sophomore Alina Yazek both contributed hits, with Yazek knocking a double in the fourth inning.
First-year pitcher Paige Heffke (2-4 record) took the loss in five innings of work. Sophomore Delaney Choi made a relief appearance in the sixth inning.
