Women's Soccer Stifles CMU In 0-0 Stalemate

PITTSBURGH, Penn. – University of Chicago women's soccer continued their tough road trip on Sunday when they visited Carnegie Mellon. 48 hours after tying the sixth best team in the nation, the Maroons did the same thing to the number three team in the land and came back to the Windy City with a 0-0 draw against the Tartans in UAA play.

RESULT
(RV) University of Chicago – 0
No. 3 Carnegie Mellon – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • University of Chicago (9-2-5, 1-1-3 UAA) knew they had a tough task ahead of them against Carnegie Mellon (11-0-4, 1-0-4 UAA) but were determined to keep the second highest scoring UAA offense in check during their second to last road match of the regular season.
  • Offense came at a premium all game long for the Maroons, with the Tartans limiting them to just one shot on goal in the contest. That attempt came in the 21st minute from Stella El-Fishawy but was turned aside by the CMU keeper.
  • With scoring chances being few and far between, UChicago had to rely on their defense to keep them in the game. Needless to say, that facet certainly showed up. The Tartans sent a total of nine shots towards the net but each one was saved by Sophie Pilarski. The last one the junior had to stop came at 72:39 and the rest of the squad locked things down with the time remaining in a 0-0 draw.
