CHICAGO – Coming off a hard-fought tie against UAA foe Rochester on Saturday, the University of Chicago women's soccer team stepped out of conference play to welcome Alma for a midweek afternoon battle. The Maroons offense was determined to make sure there was no tie this time around and rattled off more than a half dozen goals to blowout the Scots at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UChicago (7-1-3) sent 19 shots towards the Alma (0-8-0) net in the first half and opened the scoring with a strike from Mary Stuart Kerrigan in the 25th minute. Two goals from Avery Gallucci, a single one from Kaitlyn Gomez and an assist via Stella El-Fishawy followed as the Maroons took a 4-0 lead into the break.
- Gomez joined her teammate with two in the game to begin the second half action shortly following halftime before Malia Cohen set up Hannah Rittenhouse to make it an even half dozen for the home team.
- The Maroons attempted 21 shots in total in the final 45 minutes and scored one last time via a Raquel dos Santos tally at 73:35. The UChicago defense had no problems taking care of things on the other end and allowed just three Scot shots in each half while securing their sixth shutout victory of the year.
