CHICAGO – UChicago women's soccer returned to the pitch four days after thrashing Alma to see if they could do the same to visiting (RV) New York University in UAA play. The Violets had other ideas however and used a three goal first half to propel themselves to a 4-2 victory over the Maroons on Saturday at home.
RESULT
(RV) New York University – 4
University of Chicago – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- (RV) New York University (9-1, 1-1 UAA) struck first in each team's second UAA battle of the season after only 4:19 had elapsed off the game clock to go up 1-0. The Violets would then proceed to find the back of the net two more times before the end of the half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
- NYU proceeded to score again off a penalty kick in the 72nd minute before the University of Chicago (7-2-3, 0-1-1 UAA) mounted their comeback.
- Ella Cho ended the shutout for the Maroons with a tally at 85:25 while Hannah Rittenhouse set up McKenzie Toomey just minutes later to cut the NYU lead in half. However, it was too little too late in UChicago's two goal loss.
