HOW IT HAPPENED
- Friday evening's game between No. 11 University of Chicago and No. 23 Johns Hopkins saw three ties and eight different lead changes starting with a first quarter that saw the Maroons lead by as much as six before settling for a four-point deficit after ten minutes.
- UChicago was able to get a single tally back in the second frame, the only quarter in which they led when taken as an isolated period. It was also the Maroons highest shooting percentage stanza of the game as well with the designated home team making 47 percent of their shots.
- The third frame saw the Blue Jays grow their advantage to eight before a rally that was capped off by a Bri Simpson layup tied the contest with 3:04 left to go in the quarter. Back-to-back treys from Johns Hopkins put them back ahead though and the Maroons would go into the final ten minutes down by four.
- Unfortunately, the closest UChicago would get would be within three points after Sophia North successfully converted on a three-point play. Neither team shot especially bad or good and the difference occurred at the free throw line. The Blue Jays got to the charity stripe 18 times and made 15 of those shots to seal the deal on a nine-point victory to hand the Maroons their third loss in a row.
