WHEATON, Ill. – For the second-straight weekend, the University of Chicago outdoor track & field teams captured both team titles at the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday.
The UChicago women claimed first of 14 teams with 139 points – more than double the total of runner-up Hope College. The Maroon men were first of 13 teams with 85 points.
On the women's side, UChicago won eight total events. Loren Brown led the way by grabbing both of the hurdle events. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.77 and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.01 – the No. 6 time in NCAA Division III.
The 800-meter race was dominated by the Maroons, who took the top seven places. Maddie Kelly crossed the finish line first with the No. 10 time in the nation (2:13.15).
Marina Semple put up the top long jump of the day at 5.50 meters. Caitlin Jorgensen was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:17.11. Rebecca Stewart was the top triple jumper at 11.43 meters. Gabriela Meschino won the 100 meters in 12.23 and was also the part of the winning 4x100-meter relay team (47.59) alongside Camila Garanton, Isabel Layne and Maddie Lyons.
On the men's side, the Maroons topped the podium in five different events. Andrew Ray took first in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.07) and the 400-meter hurdles (54.27). Joe Lemna won the 1,500 meters in 3:57.02. The field events featured victories by Aryan Shrivastava in the high jump (1.95 meters) and Ryan Anderson in the javelin (52.87 meters).
UChicago also sent a few runners to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invite on Friday. Anna Kenig-Ziesler won the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 16:37.48, which currently ranks third in the nation.
