Game One – UChicago 2, UW-Whitewater 0
Starting pitcher Paige Heffke (6-2 record) maintained her hot streak in the circle with her second shutout of the week. The sophomore struck out eight batters while only allowing four hits and one walk. In the process, she stretched her scoreless streak to 16-2/3 innings.
The only runs the Maroons would need came in the top half of the second and third innings. Paige Zvokel single through the left side to plate one and Julia Folkl knocked an RBI single down the left field line.
UChicago totaled eight hits and one error in the contest. Folkl and Ava Sinai both went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Game Two – UChicago 4, UW-Whitewater 2
The Maroons seized the momentum in game two right away. Laila Sims led off the game with a walk and promptly stole second base. Soon after, Folkl laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Sims from third base.
UChicago then made the score 4-0 in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Folkl struck an RBI single to right and Clare Fortier followed up with a two-run single up the middle.
UWW chopped the deficit in half with runs in both the third and fourth innings. However, that would be all the Warhawks would get, as the game ended on a double-play groundout.
Nicole Wong (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief. Delaney Romanchick pitched the middle 1.2 innings after starting pitcher Delaney Choi hurled the opening 3.1 innings.
In the final box score, UChicago tallied three hits and one error.
