CHICAGO – In one of their most exciting games this season, the University of Chicago women's soccer took down No.24 North Central College in a spirited match on Tuesday afternoon. The win is the Maroons first over a ranked opponent this year.

#24 North Central College - 3
UChicago – 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After starting the match down 2-0, Chicago grabbed a hold of the momentum and charged themselves back into fighting position for the match. Storming down the field Stella El-Fishawy found Avery Gallucci to put the Maroons on the board at 18:56 and decrease the Cardinals' lead to one.
- As lots of back-and-forth play went on deep into the first half, Anna Thomann found Ella Cho who slammed the ball towards the goal. By a perfectly touched left leg extension by Kaitlyn Gomez the ball found the back of the net and Chicago tied the score 2-2.
- Within 30 seconds of the Maroons tying the score North Central found another way to extend their lead as Salviola netted one to give the Cardinals the lead heading into halftime.
- The Maroons opened the second half with a strong consistency on the front line. By maintaining possession of the ball for most of the time the Cardinals were only given a few chances to find a shot.
- As time was winding down and the Maroons were down by one another corner kick came into Chicago's favor. As Livie Sabloff kicked, Mary Stuart Kerrigan headed the ball in for another Maroons goal. The game was once again tied, 3-3.
- Long into the half players from both sides of the field started to get chippy, but the Maroons used it to their advantage. Just as the match started to look like it would end in a tie, Kaitlyn Gomez shocked the Cardinals by taking the lead for the Maroons, 4-3. The final goal was assisted by Tara Minowada.
- Chicago outshot North Central 18-6. In the second half, the Maroons were able to shutout the Cardinals while taking eight strikes themselves.
