NEWARK, N.J. – Mired in a five-game winless streak, University of Chicago men's soccer headed to the East Coast to hopefully get back on track against New York University. The Maroons and Violets played an even first half before an NYU error handed UChicago the 2-1 win on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Most of the action between University of Chicago (6-5-1, 1-0-1 UAA) and NYU (5-2-3, 0-1-1 UAA) took place in the first half. The Violets netted the first goal in the 11^th minute to give the home team a 1-0 lead, but the Maroons would find an answer shortly after. Max Weene threaded a pass that allowed Danny Mendoza to score this seventh goal of the season with less than 20 minutes left in the opening frame.
• Tied at 1-1, the game winning goal went the Maroons way but a UChicago student-athlete wasn't credited in scoring it. An "own goal" by NYU in the 53^rd minute proved to be the deciding tally and gave the Maroon and White a 2-1 win.
• Dhirpal Shah stopped four of the five shots that he saw in 90 minutes of action while Julius Rauch paced the offense with three shots on goal. Overall, the Maroons outshot the Violets 11-8.
