HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs Rochester
- In their 12th sweep of the season, the Maroons dominated the Jackets. On average, they held Rochester to a total of 13 points per match. The match points deficits between the two team are some of the largest Chicago has had this year.
- Thought powerful wins in sets one and two, the Jackets fought back in set three. The last was neck and neck until Rochester's point 16. After a kill from Maggie McInerney, the Maroons went on a 7-3 run to close out the game.
- Diya Mishra led all teams with 14 kills. McInerney and Amelia Gibbs followed behind with eight of their own.
- Three different Maroons finished with at least one ace.
- vs #6 Emory University
- Chicago started the match hot taking an early 14-10 lead in the first few minutes. As points were traded back and forth, the Maroons earned back-to-back points to close out set one with the win.
- The Eagles caught steam in sets two and three to bolt out to an early lead margin. With small mistakes catching up to them, it made it hard for the Maroons to force a comeback.
- In the final set, UChicago earned their momentum back after an attack error on Emory jumped them to a 10-2 run. The ball was favoring the Maroons until two straight kills from Alana Dawson gave the Eagles the stretch they needed. Chicago tried to rally on Emory's match point but were closed out on another opponent attack.
- Amelia Gibbs led Chicago with 11 kills while Keeley Kandziora added on nine of her own. Freshman Gabi Spellings led the Maroons defense with four blocks at the net.
