HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a heartbreaking loss at NYU last week, Chicago upped the aggression to another level against the Judges in this morning's match. Taking a total of 22 shots, the Maroons' shots on goal were finally in the double digits once again.
- First-year Indira Naylor was a magnet to the net scoring the first for Chicago seconds after Brandeis' first goal. Naylor laid in a cross pass from Sarah Ginsburg to open the ballgame for the Maroons.
- Getting tough possessions from the Judges, Chicago capitalized on what they could. At the end of the first half, both teams had only taken 12 shots combined. The Maroons' strong back line kept the ball at midfield to disrupt Brandeis' attacks.
- Barely in the second half Layne Kohler was able to knock in another off a corner kick from Livie Sabloff. Kohler achieved a biit of redemption today after hitting one in earlier, but the goal being called back off a Maroon foul. At 58:29 the Maroons took the lead, but were still hungry for more.
- Kaitlyn Gomez netted another for a two-score lead off a short pass from Kamiryn Grimes at 62:25. In a perfect setup, the sophomore was able to drive in the ball in the back left side of the net to now put Chicago up 3-1.
- As time came winding down, the Maroons wanted to go out on an even higher note. Stella El-Fishway came driving down to find Sarah Ginsburg to her side. As the ball made its way to her, Indira Naylor one again was at the right place to steal another score from the Judges and closeout Chicago's win 4-1.
