CHICAGO – Heading a few streets north, the University of Chicago Women's Soccer Team took on Illinois Institute of Technology in a Monday night battle. Coming off a win at home, the Maroons and the Scarlet Hawks ended in a draw.
RESULTS
Illinois Tech - 0
UChicago – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the Maroons first tie of the season, junior goalkeeper Sophia Sasaki recorded a career-high five saves against the Scarlet Hawks. This was her second start this season.
- Only three Chicago players were able to record a single shot on goal. In only the second time this year, the Maroons were out shot 10-6.
- Getting tough possessions from the Scarlet Hawks, Chicago capitalized on what they could. At the end of the first half, both teams had only taken 12 shots combined. The Maroons' strong back line kept the ball at midfield to disrupt Illinois Tech's attacks.
- UChicago did have the upper hand in corner kicks all though. Take one more than IIT, the opportunities were there.
- Stella El-Fishway, Livie Sabloff, and Sophia Sasaki were the only players for the Maroons to play the entire 90 minutes. Both El-Fishway and Sabloff accounted for one of the three shots on goal Chicago could put on the stat sheet.
