PENSACOLA, Fla. – University of Chicago made the long trek from St. Louis to Florida in hopes of getting their spring break trip back on track against UW-Whitewater. Unfortunately, the Warhawks jumped out early and never gave up the lead as the Maroons fell 6-2.
RESULTS
UW-Whitewater – 6
UChicago – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- University of Chicago (1-7) got down early in this one as UW-Whitewater (4-3) scored two in the top of the second to grab the lead. Unfortunately, it was a lead that they would not relinquish.
- The Warhawks pushed another run across in the fourth before more than doubling their run total with three in the top of the eighth. However, the UChicago bats would try to make it a game late.
- The Maroons scored two in the bottom of the eighth with both runs coming across thanks to an Eric Rindner double to left field that plated Jackson Slipock and Jack Sharp. They'd try to pull even closer in their last at bats but were sent down in order in a 6-2 loss during their first game in Florida.
CHICAGO COMMENTS
- UW-Whitewater leads the all-time series 2-1 but this afternoon was the first time these two teams have met since the 2012 season.
