CHICAGO – No. 22 University of Chicago women's lacrosse returned home to Stagg Field after a disappointing road trip in which they suffered a loss after a game got canceled but were looking to get back on the right path against UW-River Falls. Not only did they find that path, the Maroons also scored early and often as they flirted with the record books in a 26-1 win over the Falcons.
RESULT
UW-River Falls – 1
No. 22 UChicago – 26
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 22 University of Chicago (3-2) was clearly not messing around today as they looked to snap their brief early season skid. The Maroons scored three goals in the first two minutes of the contest and were up 9-0 by the end of the opening quarter.
- UChicago would trigger the running clock against UW-River Falls (3-2) with 14:47 left to go before halftime and were up 17-0 by the time they headed to the locker rooms. Nine more second half goals would follow as the Maroons slowed play down to run set attacks and fell one goal shy of tying the single game mark of 27 that was set last season against Albion.
- They also came close to notching the sixth shutout in program history, but the Falcons found the back of the net for their only goal of the game early in the fourth quarter. Still, Rachel Keefe was solid in goal with six saves and the team won 24 of the 29 draw controls in the contest.
- In total 13 UChicago student-athletes found the scoresheet with nine of them doing so multiple times. Wynne Boggan led the team with four goals while Jill Hooey and Camille Kuwana each had three in the Maroons 25 tally win.
CHICAGO COMMENTS
- The Maroons now lead the all-time series 2-0 and have outscored the Falcons by a total of 39-3 in those contests.
