(RV) Lacrosse Earns First Conference Road Win

WAUKESHA, Wis. – (RV) University of Chicago hit the road for their first CCIW contest away from Stagg Field this season and looked to stay perfect in conference play against Carroll. The Maroons offense kept moving right along with another 19 goals towards their season total while the defense didn't let the Pioneers gather any momentum in a 15-tally win on Wednesday night.

RESULT
(RV) UChicago – 19
Carroll – 4

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • (RV) University of Chicago (6-4, 2-0 CCIW) got off to a quick start in tonight's contest and scored six goals in the first quarter while blanking Carroll (10-2, 0-1 CCIW) during the opening 15 minutes of play. In fact, the first seven goals of the contest would be scored by the Maroons before the Pioneers found the back of the net, but the home team would only net one more before heading into the locker room down 13-2 at halftime.
  • Three goals in each period followed in the second half for UChicago who controlled the tempo of the contest all night long. The Maroon & White had 21 more ground balls than their competitors, with 14 of the UChicago players collecting at least two each, and they won 19 of the 26 draws throughout the night. Chicago was also 4-for-6 in free position shots as well.
  • Carroll managed to match their first half goal total, but their four was still a far cry from the 19 the Maroons netted on the evening. Lulu Hardy, Jill Hooey, Skylar Lienhardt, Peyton McGuire, and Evelina Swigart all netted at least two goals in the UChicago 19-4 blowout of the Pioneers.
CHICAGO COMMENTS
  • When including conference tournament games, tonight's victory was the Maroons 20th straight win over CCIW competitors.
