University of Chicago wrapped up their three-game series with Ripon in a unique way on Wednesday, finishing a game from almost two weeks ago before starting a brand new regularly scheduled nine inning contest. The Maroons got an insurance run to win the first ballgame in speedy fashion before taking home another victory to put two tallies in the win column in just ten innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- University of Chicago (14-19, 13-5 MWC) resumed their game two contest with Ripon (9-20, 6-11 MWC) that was played in Wisconsin back on April 16th but was suspended due to rain. The game picked up in the top of the ninth inning with the Maroons leading 4-3, no outs on the scoreboard, and a runner on second base.
- After Erik Rindner advanced to third off a Jack Goldstein single up the middle, Jonathan Zeevi laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to score his teammate and give UChicago an extra insurance run to push the score to 5-3.
- Grant Tenuta worked out of a jam in the bottom half of the ninth, getting a strikeout and fly out to centerfield to end the game with runners on first and second to lock down the two-run win.
- Game Two
- After a short break, both teams went straight into game three of the series which was a certified pitcher's duel.
- The Maroons went with a bullpen day and was highly successful starting with Phil Hogan and his 3.2 frames of scoreless two hit ball. He was then followed up David Flanagan, eventual game winner Kirk Waller, Kason Pelz, and Sam Klanot who all kept the Red Hawks off the scoreboard.
- The winning run came early in the contest when Braden Jirovec singled to center to score Jack Sharp to allow the Maroons to sweep the day with a 1-0 victory.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Maroons will host Grinnell for a three-game set starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27
th. Game one from J. Kyle Anderson Field is slated for 12:00 pm.
