#8 Men's Soccer Sees Winning Streak End On Road

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – No. 8 University of Chicago men's soccer headed to the Badger State and put their five-game winning streak on the line against No. 11 UW-Eau Claire. Unfortunately, the Maroons had an issue getting their offense going for just the second time this season as they fell to the Blugolds in a 1-0 shutout.

RESULT
No. 8 UChicago – 0
No. 11 UW-Eau Claire

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • No. 8 University of Chicago (5-2) was assigned the task to negate a 1-0 deficit early on in the contest against No. 11 UW-Eau Claire (6-0-2). The Blugolds hit twine just 11:21 into the first half behind a total of nine first half shots. The Maroons on the other hand managed just five in the opening stanza and went into the intermission still down 1-0.
  • The UW-EC defense stepped up in the second frame and limited UChicago to just three shots. In total, only two of the Maroons eight shots found their way to the Blugold's keeper, and while they were able to keep the home team from scoring again, they never found the equalizer in the 1-0 loss.
  • Keeper Dhirpal Shah did stop a career high nine attempts in the defeat while senior defender Jack Leuker led the team with three shots.
