KENOSHA, Wis. – No. 21 University of Chicago men's soccer traveled north to take on Carthage and get back on track after a tough loss to No. 11 UW-Eau Claire last time out. Unfortunately, the Maroons were unable to get onto the scoresheet for the second game in a row as they fell to the Firebirds 1-0 just across the state line.
RESULT
No. 21 UChicago – 0
Carthage – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 21 University of Chicago (5-3) outshot Carthage (4-3-1) 7-3 in the first half but none of the Maroons attempts found the back of the net. However, a Firebirds shot just before the 26th minute gave the home squad a 1-0 and they'd hold that advantage heading into the second half.
- Carthage stepped up their game and took four more shots in the backend of the contest, but the Maroons still topped them with nine total in the half. Three of those attempts got on goal but they still couldn't push the ball across.
- The Firebirds prevented UChicago from getting a shot off during the last 12 minutes of the ballgame as the Maroons drop their third 1-0 decision of the year. Dhirpal Shah stopped two of the three shots that came his way while Kai Walsh led Chicago with five shots throughout the evening.
