CHICAGO – (RV) University of Chicago volleyball found themselves on the winning side of an upset at the Ratner Athletics Center on Wednesday night. The sweep of No.18 Calvin University is the Maroons first win against a ranked opponent since 2022.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In two of the three sets played, UChicago jumped out to early 5-0 starts. The momentum built from these moments glided the Maroons into setting the tone for each series played. Though, the dominance started in set one as Chicago once held off their opponents by 13 points for a 20-7 lead after a slam by Peyton Minyard.
• In the last four games for the Maroons, no team has been allowed to put more than 20 points on the board in one set. The closest the Knights got tonight was 16.  UChicago out killed tonight by 15 attacks.
• The control set by the Maroons allowed them to command the entire third set. Showing their experience throughout the season, the team was able to capitalize on the small mistakes made by the Knights.

Our attackers played a clean match and found a variety of ways to score. This is a great win going into our first weekend of UAA play. WHO'S ON DECK
The Maroons will start UAA play as they head to NYU for the first round robin of the year. Chicago will face Brandeis University for their first matchup on Saturday at 11:00 am.
