CHICAGO – No. 21 University of Chicago men's soccer had a chance to make another statement this season when they welcomed the Flying Dutchmen of Hope to Stagg Field. Unfortunately, their shutout streak would continue as an early first half goal was all Hope needed to down the Maroons 1-0 on Saturday night.
RESULT
No. 9 Hope – 1
No. 21 UChicago – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With two highly ranked and skilled teams facing off against each other, No. 21 University of Chicago and No. 9 Hope quickly got physical as each team tried to find the others weakness. The Flying Dutchmen got the first laugh though as they made it 1-0 halfway through the 19th minute. Hope outshot the Maroons 6-4 and kept that one goal lead heading into the locker rooms.
- Unfortunately, that first laugh was also the last. Hope kept UChicago off the board in the second 45-minute period as well even though the Maroons outshot them 7-2 in the frame. Chicago dominated the period and held control of the ball for most of the half, but they couldn't get any of their attempts to go including a game saving shot from the Flying Dutchmen's keeper.
- Jadyn Hsieh-Bailey led the Maroons with three shots (two on goal) while Dhirpal Shah stopped three attempts in their third 1-0 loss in a row.
