ST. LOUIS, Mo – In a thrilling battle on the road, the University of Chicago men's basketball team secured a 71-66 victory over No.5 Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon, improving their overall record to 10-2 and moving to 1-0 in UAA play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maroons came out strong in the first half, leading by as much as 10 points, and held a 34-28 advantage at the break.
- After a competitive first half, UChicago showed their mettle in the second frame, outscoring the Bears 37-38 to pull away for the win. The Maroons' shooting improved dramatically in the second half, as they connected on 50% of their field goals (13-26) and were perfect from the free-throw line (6-6). The team also capitalized on WashU's struggles from three-point range, where the Bears shot just 25% (4-16) for the game.
- Senior Thomas Kurowski was a steadying force for UChicago throughout the game, finishing with 17 points and 4 rebounds. His leadership on both ends of the floor helped maintain the Maroons' offensive rhythm, particularly in a critical second-half stretch. Alongside him, Eamonn Kenah contributed 15 points, including a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc, showcasing his sharp shooting ability.
- UChicago's offense was well-rounded, with several players stepping up when needed. Joe Berry chipped in with eight points, while Jackson Piotrowski and Daniel Cochran both added eight points apiece. The Maroons dominated the paint, outscoring WashU 32-40 in points in the paint, which helped make up for their shooting inconsistencies from outside.
