CHICAGO – The University of Chicago men's basketball team powered through a tight contest, emerging victorious in an intense overtime battle against No.2 nationally ranked Emory University, 80-70, on the road at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta. In a game that saw five ties and eight lead changes, Chicago held on to extend their record to 12-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emory, who had entered the game with an impressive 13-1 record, shot just 33% from the field in overtime, and despite their efficient free-throw shooting, they could not overcome UChicago's balanced attack and clutch late-game performance.
- The game was a back-and-forth affair throughout. UChicago came out strong in the first half, taking a 35-30 lead into the locker room. But Emory came roaring back in the second half, outscoring the Maroons 34-29 and forcing the game into overtime. In the extra period, it was the Maroons' grit and determination that shone through. With the game knotted at 64-64, UChicago went on a decisive 16-6 run, fueled by clutch shooting and lockdown defense. The Maroons shot 50% from the field in overtime, compared to just 33% for Emory
- Thomas Kurowski was the standout performer for UChicago, playing all 40 minutes and leading the team with 34 points on 13-of-24 shooting, including five 3-pointers. He also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists. His play was instrumental in keeping UChicago in the game, especially in the face of Emory's second-half surge.
- Alongside him, Eamonn Kenah delivered a solid 15 points, including a perfect 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Joe Berry contributed 10 points and played a key role in UChicago's defense and rebounding efforts, which were crucial in the Maroons' ability to limit Emory's scoring opportunities down the stretch.
