HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was competitive early on, with both teams struggling offensively. UChicago held a slim lead after the first quarter, but a quiet second period, where they managed just 6 points on 14.3% shooting, allowed Rochester to pull ahead. The Maroons' defense remained tough, limiting Rochester to just 35.5% shooting in the first half. At the break Chicago only trailed by one.
- Coming out of halftime, UChicago found its rhythm, especially in the third quarter, where they shot 57.1% from the field and closed the gap to just 4 points heading into the final period. However, Rochester answered with a dominant fourth quarter, using an effective combination of fast breaks and clutch free-throw shooting to seal the win.
- Caroline Workman led the Maroons with 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Bri Simpson provided a spark off the bench with six points. Annabelle Spotts was also a key contributor, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds.
- Looking ahead, UChicago hopes to keep their consistency while continuing to build on their strong defensive efforts. With their UAA record now at 2-3, the Maroons will be eager to bounce back in their next contest and remain in the hunt for a strong finish to the season.
