CHICAGO - The University of Chicago women's basketball team was defeated by Emory on Friday night, 62-55, in a hard-fought battle at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center. Despite a valiant second-half effort, the Maroons fell to 14-9 overall, 4-8 in UAA play. Emory improved to 15-8 and 7-5 in UAA competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started with both teams struggling offensively. The Maroons built an early lead, leading 14-7 after the first quarter, but Emory's defense tightened as the game went on. The Maroons remained in the game due to strong free-throw shooting (10-10) and solid rebounding (35 total).
- Bella Alfaro had a strong performance for the Maroons, finishing with 15 points, including 3 three-pointers. Kasi Samuda added 10 points, eight rebounds, and an assist, while Caroline Workman contributed seven points and five rebounds.
- Chicago kept fighting, despite Emory finding themselves on another run. On the defensive end, Chicago forced 12 turnovers and grabbed 10 offensive rebounds to find their rhythm back into the game.
- UChicago's offense came alive in the fourth. Alfaro drained another three to get the Maroons momentum going as they scored 19 points in the quarter.
