CHICAGO - The University of Chicago women's basketball team saw a tough defeat at home against the University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon, falling 54-53 in a game that was tightly contested throughout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The game started with UChicago in control, as they held a narrow 11-9 lead after the first quarter. However, Rochester quickly found their rhythm in the second, outscoring UChicago 10-21 to take a 19-22 lead at halftime. Despite the deficit, the Maroons battled back with a strong 17-point third quarter.
• Bella Alfaro and Sophia North lead the Maroons with 13 points. Alfaro added on five rebounds, and three assists.while having a strong shooting performance, going 5-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
• Senior North also finished with three three-pointers, and five rebounds in her 25 minutes of action. 
• The Maroons defense once again proved their x-factor in the game as UChicago managed to force timely turnovers. Scoring 11 points off Rochester's mistakes.
• Rochester's second-half surge, especially in the fourth quarter where they outscored UChicago 21-4, ultimately proved to be the difference.
