GRANVILLE, Ohio – The University of Chicago women's lacrosse team fell 11-2 to No. 23 Denison on Sunday, struggling to break through a strong defensive effort.
Denison set the tone early, keeping UChicago off the board in the first quarter and building a 4-1 halftime lead. Peyton McGuire put the Maroons on the board late in the second quarter off a Jill Hooey assist, but Denison pulled away with a five-goal third quarter. Sora Choi added a fourth-quarter goal, assisted by Jane Chen, but UChicago couldn't close the gap.
The Maroons outshot Denison 34-28 but were stifled by an opposing goalkeeper. Rachel Keefe recorded six saves in goal for UChicago, while the Maroons forced 20 turnovers defensively.
With the loss, UChicago moves to 3-2 on the season and looks to regroup in its next matchup.
