EWING, N.J. - The University of Chicago women's lacrosse team suffered a tough loss to #12 TCNJ on Friday afternoon, falling 15-7 in Ewing, New Jersey. Despite a strong second-half effort, the Maroons couldn't overcome a slow start and a dominant performance from the Lions.

TCNJ wasted no time getting on the board, with Ally Tobler scoring just under six minutes into the game. Marissa Lucca and CJ Kole added two more goals for the Lions in the opening period, putting the Maroons in a 3-0 hole. Chicago struggled to break through TCNJ's defense in the first quarter, failing to register a goal.

The Maroons found their footing in the second quarter, starting with an assist from Wynne Boggan to Evelina Swigart, cutting the deficit to 5-1. A few minutes later, Boggan added a goal of her own to make it 6-2. With less than two minutes to go in the half, TCNJ's Veronica Campbell scored, putting the Lions back up by four at 7-3 going into the break.

In the third quarter, TCNJ continued to extend their lead, pushing the Lions' lead to 10-4. The Maroons responded with a goal from Peyton McGuire off an assist from Avery Song to cut the deficit to 8-4, but TCNJ answered back quickly with a pair of goals to maintain their commanding lead.

UChicago didn't back down in the final quarter, with Evelina Swigart and Peyton McGuire each adding goals to make it 12-7, but TCNJ remained in control. The Lions closed out the game with three unanswered goals to seal the 15-7 win.

Swigart and McGuire led the Maroons offensively, each scoring two goals, while Boggan chipped in with two goals and an assist. Goalie Rachel Keefe recorded six saves in a full 60 minutes of play.
