#22 Women's Lacrosse Cruised Past Trine in Sunday Matinee

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's lacrosse team picked up a 26-3 victory over Trine on Sunday afternoon to remain perfect on their home field at 6-0.

The Maroons jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with a goal by Skylar Lienhardt just 17 seconds into the contest and three more goals by Lulu Hardy in the next 86 seconds. UChicago would ride this hot start to a 12-1 lead after the opening period with goals by five different players in the first 15 minutes.

With a running clock in the second period, the offensive onslaught continued with goals by six different players in the next nine minutes for 14 consecutive goals by the Maroons and an 18-1 lead. The Thunder would get on the board with a goal late in the half, and UChicago would take their 18-2 lead into the locker room.

In the third period, Lulu Hardy added her fifth goal of the game, and Cameron Lienhardt scored just her second goal of the year to stretch the lead to 20-2. However, the severe thunderstorms rolled in with 5:36 left on the clock in the third quarter resulting in a nearly 90 minute delay. Coming out of the delay, the Maroons added two more goals in the third period from Kailee See and Ella Kodl. UChicago wrapped up their 26-3 win with four more goals in the final period from Kodl, Charlotte Semlies, Evelina Swigart, and Cameron Lienhardt.

Lulu Hardy led the team with 5 goals and an assist, and Skylar Lienhardt added three goals in the win. Jane Chen led the Maroons with 5 assists. Evelina Swigart and Avery Song each tallied multiple goals and multiple assists in the win over the Thunder.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 8-4 on the season with their third consecutive victory. UChicago will return to action on Saturday, April 5, at 1 PM CT as they host Carthage for their Senior Day contest.
