#6 Women's Soccer Posts Fifth Shutout at Kalamzoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The No. 6 University of Chicago women's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season with a dominant road victory over Kalamazoo College on Sunday afternoon at MacKenzie Field. Behind goals from Karena Shah, Jamie Nguyen, and Greer Reineke, the Maroons improved to 6-0-1 overall while securing their third shutout in the last five matches.

UChicago dictated the pace from the opening kickoff, establishing possession and creating scoring chances early on. Despite a number of quality looks, it wasn't until the 38th minute that the visitors broke through. After a foul on the Hornets, McKenzie Toomey knocked the ball down to the left of the goal on a free kick. Bella Ballard kept it in play with a quick touch, then delivered a perfect pass to Shah, who headed in her third goal of the season.

Following halftime, the momentum only continued to swing in UChicago's favor. Just over ten minutes into the second half, sophomore Jamie Nguyen made her mark, collecting a loose ball in the box and finishing with composure to give the Maroons a comfortable 2-0 lead.

UChicago's depth proved to be a key advantage, as the team maintained pressure and continued to test Kalamazoo, who was forced to make 12 saves on the day.

In the closing moments of the match, the Maroons added a third and final goal to cap their performance. In the 89th minute, Greer Reineke capitalized on an assist from Ariel Alleyne, to knock in her first collegiate goal. The Maroons finished with a 24-2 advantage in total shots and 15-2 in shots on goal, while also earning six corner kicks to Kalamazoo's one.

Defensively, UChicago was rock-solid throughout. Kalamazoo failed to register a shot in the first half and was limited to just two attempts overall.

With the win, Chicago extends its all-time win streak over the Hornets to 14 matches as they remain undefeated in the 2025 campaign.
