Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The University of Chicago women's soccer overcame an early deficit to beat University of Rochester 2-1 on Sunday.
The Maroons improved to 12-5-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets fell to 3-12-1, 0-6-0 in conference play.
First strike of the day went to the hosts with a 10-yard shot from the right wing to go up 1-0 in the 15th minute. But Chicago quickly answered at 17:11. Brigette Kragie's initial shot was saved by the goalie, and Meghan Derken pounced on the rebound and tied the game at 1-1.
Natalia Jovanovic netted her sixth goal of the season at 27:05 to give the Maroons a 2-1 lead that they would take into halftime. Chicago outshot Rochester 12-2 in the opening period.
In the second half, the Maroon defense did not allow a shot and secured its fourth-straight conference victory.
Chicago goalkeeper Jacinda Reid got the win in 90 minutes of work. The Maroons ended up with a 19-2 shot advantage in the match.
