ELMHURST, Ill. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team saw its postseason run come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Washington University-St. Louis in the second round of the NCAA Regionals on Saturday.
The No. 15-ranked Maroons finish their season with a 29-11 record. The No. 3-ranked Bears (31-3) advance to Sunday's regional final.
UChicago and WashU met for the third time this year after splitting the previous two matchups. On Saturday, the Bears came out on top each time in three closely-contested sets 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.
This weekend marked the third-straight year that UChicago has participated in the NCAA Championships. Friday's 3-1 win over Benedictine University was the second NCAA postseason win by the Maroons in program history.
This year's senior class (Caroline Brander, Katie Trela, Samantha Brown) finish their careers with a cumulative record of 117-43 (.731 winning percentage).
