Maroons Fall to Elmhurst

CHICAGO -- Every player in Elmhurst College's starting lineup had at least one hit as the Bluejays defeated the University of Chicago baseball team 11-3 Tuesday at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Summary

  • The Bluejays (18-13) scored twice in the second, fourth, and sixth innings before adding a single run in the seventh and four more in the ninth.

  • CF Tyler Wargo led a 17-hit attack, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. 3B Zach Hofer went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.

  • Junior reliever Drew Nicholson (Oswego, Ill./ Oswego) (pictured) pitched five innings in relief of junior starter Jack Cinoman (Chicago, Ill./ Whitney Young) (2-2), who left the game in the top of the fourth. Nicholson allowed seven hits and seven runs -- all unearned.

  • Bryan Baker (2-2) went five frames to earn the win before Eric Stevenson threw the final four innings to notch the save.

  • Sophomore SS Dylan Massey (Boynton Beach, Fla./ Boca Raton) had three hits and a pair of RBIs for the Maroons (19-11).

Notes

  • Chicago fell to 5-5 at J. Kyle Anderson Field. The Maroons have lost two in a row and three of their last four at home.
