CHICAGO -- Concordia University Chicago scored four runs in the top of the first inning and added three more in the third en route to a 17-2 win over the University of Chicago baseball team Tuesday at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Summary

  • The Cougars (15-5) scored nine runs (eight earned) in five innings off sophomore LHP Alex Terry (Omaha, Neb./ Brownell-Talbot), who entered the game coming off back-to-back shutouts in his first two starts of the season.

  • SS Robert Weiss collected three of the Cougars' 19 hits. Weis was one of six Concordia Chicago hitters to drive in a pair of runs on the afternoon.

  • Concordia Chicago RHP Ryan Ganther (1-0) scattered four hits over seven innings to earn the victory.

  • Freshman RHP Kyle Nitiss (Glencoe, Ill./ New Trier) (pictured) retired all three batters he faced in the top of the ninth in his first career appearance at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Notes

  • Junior LF Jack Cinoman (Chicago, Ill./ Whitney Young) went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He has had multiple hits in all seven contests.

  • The Maroons (10-6) slipped to 2-2 at J. Kyle Anderson Field.
