Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. -- Turnovers proved costly in the second half as the University of Chicago women's basketball team lost at Emory University 80-64 on Sunday.
The Maroons (3-10 overall, 0-3 UAA) dropped its third-straight conference game. The Eagles ran their record to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the UAA.
The first half played out very evenly as the two teams exchanged scores. The game was tied nine times before the break, including 27-27 with 5:45 left . A 10-2 run by Emory from that point on helped the hosts go up 40-35 at halftime. Claire Devaney kept UChicago close with 11 points in 10 minutes of play.
Two free throws from Christiane Murray got the Maroons within two points at 45-43. However, the Eagles scored the next nine points to take control of the game. UChicago committed 17 turnovers in the second half, which directly resulted in 14 points for the hosts. Caitlin Moore tallied 13 points to pace the Maroons in the final 20 minutes of action.
Emory's defense forced 29 turnovers in the game, with 18 steals. UChicago led the battle on the boards 47-44, but the Eagles ended up taking 20 more shots (82-62).
