Box Score

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The University of Chicago women's soccer team scored both of its goals in the second half to defeat New York University 2-1 on Friday.

The Maroons improved their overall record to 11-3-2 and their UAA record to 3-1-1 UAA. The Violets fell to 7-6-3, 0-3-2 in the UAA.

Both teams went into halftime scoreless, but UChicago wasted no time in getting ahead early in the second half. A foul at the 47:49 mark set up a free kick for senior forward Natalia Jovanovic and she scored her sixth goal of the year. It was her fourth-straight game with at least one point.

Fifteen minutes later, junior midfielder Sara Kwan tallied her team-leading seventh goal of the year. Sophomore forward Julia Ozello assisted on the play to make the score 2-0. NYU later scored a goal of its own in the 78th minute but could draw no closer.

UChicago junior goalkeeper Jacinda Reid (5-2-2) made two saves with one goal allowed to get the win. The Maroons led in shots 13-10 and corner kicks were even at four apiece.
