CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's tennis team was shutout by No. 2-ranked Kenyon College 9-0 on Sunday. The Maroons evened their record at 1-1 while the Lords improved to 2-1.
"While it certainly wasn't the result we wanted, we did come away from today's match with a few positives," said Head Coach Jay Tee. "Ankur Bhargava and Jake Crawford really battled and played well in singles and Gordon Zhang had a few good stretches in his match as well. As a team, they all played well at moments, but now the goal is to maintain that level through an entire match. To beat a team like Kenyon, we needed to execute a little better and be ready for a fight each and every point."
"Luckily the season is still young and we have a lot of time to grow and improve," Tee said. "I like the way we've been practicing the last couple weeks and I'm confident that we'll be a completely different team by the time the conference tournament rolls around."
