Box Score BOSTON, Mass. -- The University of Chicago women's basketball team fell behind early and Brandeis University led wire-to-wire to top the Maroons 68-50 on Friday.
The Maroons (7-16 overall) dropped its third-straight game and are now 3-9 in the UAA. The Judges improved to 9-14 overall, 3-9 in conference play.
Brandeis scored the first seven points of the game and continually expanded the lead to 25-10. Rebounding was key as the Judges dominated the boards 25-13 in the half, including 10-0 on the offensive glass. The hosts took 12 more shots in the opening stanza and led 33-21 at the half. UChicago was held to 9 of 25 shooting (36 percent) from the field. Paige Womack and Ali Shaw tallied five points each.
In the second half, the Judges opened with a 9-2 run in the first four minutes and increased its lead to 21 points. A trio of UChicago threes closed the gap to 51-40 with nine minutes remaining on the clock. But Brandeis kept its double-digit advantage the rest of the way.
The Maroons were outrebounded by a 44-25 total and 16-4 on the offensive end. The Judges scored 30 points in the paint compared to 16 by UChicago.
