Box Score OSHKOSH, Wis. – Sara Kwan's goal in double overtime handed the University of Chicago women's soccer team a 1-0 victory at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday.
This is the second-straight year that the No. 20-ranked Maroons (3-0-0) have beaten the Titans (1-2-0) in overtime. In 2013, the Maroons won in the first overtime 2-1.
Wisconsin-Oshkosh posted 11 shots in the first half. However, UChicago senior goalkeeper Mallory Morse was up to the task with three saves in the opening 45 minutes. Fellow senior Jacinda Reid took over after halftime and was also impenetrable in goal with four saves.
With the game seemingly headed for a scoreless draw, senior midfielder Sara Kwan delivered sudden victory in the 107th minute. Kwan scored from six yards out unassisted to end the day.
The Titans led in shots (19-6) and corner kicks (7-3) in the final statistics. The Maroons have only allowed one goal in three games this year, spanning more than 286 minutes of playing time.
