Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – In the final game of a three-game set, the University of Chicago baseball team lost 13-3 at Washington University-St. Louis on Sunday.
The Maroons fell to 9-15 and the Bears improved to 23-12.
UChicago got the quick lead early 1-0 in the first at bat when junior designated hitter Kevin Tully hit a RBI single to right field. WashU stormed back with three runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning.
The Maroons tallied their other two runs in the fifth inning when freshman outfielder Max Larsen hit a two-run home run – his second of the season. The Bears then posted two runs in the fifth and four more in the eighth to close out the scoring.
Junior pitcher Nick Watson took the loss and moved his record to 3-2 on the season. He allowed eight runs on five hits with four walks and one strikeout. Freshman Michael Davis tossed the final 3-1/3 innings, posting five runs (four earned), four hits, four walks and four strikeouts.
As a team, UChicago totaled seven hits and one error. Sophomore Thomas Prescott went 2-for-3 and senior third baseman Kyle Engel was 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
