CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's soccer team capped Senior Day with a 2-0 victory against New York University on Sunday.

The No. 7-ranked Maroons improved to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Violets dropped to 7-3-3 and 0-2-2 in UAA contests.

Sunday afternoon was Senior Day for UChicago's five seniors – Anase Asom, Sophia Kim, Jennifer Kreps, Caitlin Stefanick and Lily Wolfenzon. Over their four years on the team, the Maroons have reached the NCAA postseason three times and posted a record of 51-18-4 (.726 winning percentage).

The home side got onto the scoreboard in the 25th minute. Sophomore midfielder Jenna McKinney made a run up the left side and sent a cross into the box for junior forward Madori Spiker, who finished the chance for her sixth goal of the season.

Additional scoring opportunities came in waves from then on, but the second goal proved elusive. UChicago hit the post on three different occasions and missed out on an open goal chance. NYU kept things interesting with several runs that got behind the defense, forcing freshman goalkeeper Katie Donovan to step forward and snuff out the attack. One ball was also saved off the end line by the Maroon defenders at the 71-minute mark.

Finally, in the 83rd minute, UChicago got its insurance. Junior forward/midfielder Mia Calamari fed McKinney, who went left footed to score one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Her eight goals lead the Maroons this season.

UChicago held advantages in shots 19-8 and corner kicks 13-2. Donovan (12-1) made three saves to register her seventh shutout.
