INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Chicago men's and women's tennis teams put together tandem wins over Denison University on Saturday by scores of 8-1 and 6-3, respectively.

The No. 6-ranked Maroon men improved to 8-1 while the No. 35-ranked Big Red men evened their record at 3-3.

UChicago's men handily won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by 8-2 margins. The No. 1 doubles was close, but the Maroons pulled it out 9-7. Once singles rolled around, UChicago stepped on the gas and took five out of six matches, with all five coming in straight sets. The men had four multiple winners on the day with sophomore Nicolas Chua, freshman Charlie Pei, sophomore David Liu and sophomore Peter Leung.

The No. 15-ranked Maroon women improved to 3-2 and the No. 25-ranked Big Red women fell to 3-2.

Denison was the team that came out hot with a pair of dominant wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to put UChicago in a 2-1 hole. However, the Maroons collected themselves and blew past their opponents in singles with five wins – all in straight sets. Junior Tiffany Chen and senior Stephanie Lee won as a doubles team and also separately in singles.

"I'm really happy with the way both teams competed and we are happy to snag two wins on the day," said Head Coach Jay Tee. "The women looked sluggish in doubles but then did a great job of finding their fire in singles and really dominated. The men came out firing in doubles after gaining some confidence from ITA Indoors last week and then carried it right into singles for a very complete performance."
