GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The University of Chicago men's and women's tennis teams secured two more wins over nationally-ranked opponents with 8-1 victories at DePauw University on Sunday.

The No. 5-ranked UChicago men moved to 7-0 on the season and the No. 10-ranked Maroon women improved to 5-0. The No. 34-ranked DePauw men fell to 1-2 and the No. 25-ranked women evened their record at 1-1.

The women were first in action on the morning. After easily taking No. 3 doubles, UChicago battled with DePauw at the No. 1 and 2 spots. The No. 1 team of freshman Marjorie Antohi and sophomore Rachel Kim won 9-7 and the Tigers countered with an 8-6 victory at No. 2.

Once singles got underway, the Maroons pulled away by clinching straight-set wins in the top four spots. The visitors were pushed to three sets at No. 5 and 6, but UChicago came away with strong finishes in each. Junior Ariana Iranpour, Antohi, Kim and freshman Estefania Navarro were all winners in both singles and doubles play.

With the men on tap in the afternoon, UChicago kept up its doubles dominance with three victories by matching 8-3 margins. The Maroons then took five of the six singles matches, including four in straight sets. Sophomore Charlie Pei and freshman Erik Kerrigan tallied victories in singles and doubles play.
