CHICAGO – The University of Chicago tennis teams produced dominant play throughout the lineup as both squads shut out Coe College 9-0 on Saturday evening.

The No. 9-ranked Maroon women (8-0 record) raced through their doubles matches with a trio of matching 8-1 scores. Singles was similarly one sided – UChicago only allowed two games or fewer in five of the matches. Sophomore Alyssa Rudin and junior Adrienne Travis each posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at third and sixth singles, respectively. Sophomore Laura Gutierrez (6-1, 6-0) and first-year Daryn Ellison (6-0, 6-1) nearly replicated that feat at the fourth and fifth spots.

The ninth-ranked UChicago men (7-0 record) staked themselves to a quick 3-0 lead as well, with No. 1 doubles going the distance. The duo of sophomore Tyler Raclin and first-year Jeremy Yuan came out on top in the tiebreaker 12-10. With their attention turned to singles, the Maroons did not drop a set in any of the six matches. Senior Luke Tsai took down Brady Anderson at No. 1 by a 6-3, 6-4 score. At No. 5, junior Charlie Pei blew past his opposition 6-1, 6-0. Multiple winners included Yuan, Pei, sophomore Erik Kerrigan and sophomore Abhin Sharma.
