Box Score CLEVELAND – The University of Chicago women's soccer team battled Case Western Reserve University to a 1-1 draw on Friday.
The No. 12-ranked Maroons moved to 12-1-3 overall and the No. 11-ranked Spartans ran their record to 12-1-2. Both teams are tied for second place in the University Athletic Association (UAA) standings at 2-1-2.
CWRU jumped out to the lead in the 11th minute, but UChicago responded quickly with the tying score three minutes later. Senior Peyton Jefferson sent a cross into the middle where fellow senior Nicole Kaspi converted her ninth goal of the season.
The two teams played through two overtime periods before the game ended at 1-1.
The host Spartans led the shots category 15-10 and the corner kick column 6-3. UChicago senior goalkeeper Miranda Malone (11-1-3 record) made six saves between the pipes during her 110 minutes of action.
