CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's soccer team battled University of Rochester to a 1-1 tie on Saturday at Stagg Field.

The No. 7-ranked Maroons moved their record to 10-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Yellowjackets ran their season record to 5-3-2 (0-1-1 UAA).

The visitors shocked UChicago right off the bat by scoring 29 seconds into the match. Rochester got behind the Maroon defenders for a pair of open looks, resulting in a save and a block. But a loose rebound meant the third attempt would find the back of the net.  

Despite the quick deficit, the Maroons nearly tied the score at the 1:53 mark when senior Adriana Shutler's shot pinged off the crossbar. UChicago pressed forward eagerly for the equalizer, which eventually came in the 36th minute. Junior Hannah Rittenhouse was taken down in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Rittenhouse buried her shot and the Maroons pulled even. It marked her team-leading 11th goal of the season.

The hosts continued to fire off attempts with regularity, totaling 28 in the game. Their next closest chance came in the 66th minute, when senior Nicole Kaspi knocked a header shot off the left post. However, there would be no more scoring for either side as the game went through regulation and two 10-minute overtimes.

In the final stats, UChicago held sway in shots (28-13), shots on goal (11-6) and corner kicks (12-1). Senior goalkeeper Miranda Malone (9-0-2 record) made five saves with one goal allowed in her 110 minutes of action.
