HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Chicago's women's tennis team concluded its weekend with a 9-0 victory over conference foe Case Western Reserve University in a neutral-site bout on Sunday morning.
The Maroons improved to 5-1 and handed the Spartans (7-1) their first loss of the season.
UChicago started fast once again with a doubles sweep. Senior Eugenia Lee and junior Claudia Ng rolled through the opposition at No. 2 by an 8-1 score. First-years Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo won the No. 1 doubles match and the No. 3 team of senior Annika Pandey and first-year Nicole Geller defeated their opponents by the same margin, 8-5.
Four of the singles matches were won in straight sets by Guo (No. 2), Ng (No. 3), Geller (No. 4) and first-year Miranda Yuan (No. 5). Mikos (7-6, 2-6, 10-8) and Pandey (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) prevailed in three sets at the No. 1 and the No. 6 spots, respectively.
