Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's eighth-ranked women's soccer program used two second-half goals to down Kalamazoo on the road on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
UChicago improved its season record to 2-1 while the Hornets fell to 0-1-2.
The Maroons were firing off shots offensively in the first half, including six on goal, but were kept off the scoresheet. Allison Embroski delivered the game-winner in the 71st minute, putting UChicago ahead on an assist from Hannah Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse doubled the Maroons' lead four minutes later, scoring from close range from a Stella El-Fishawy pass.
UChicago kept Kalamazoo from scoring in the final 15 minutes to secure the 2-0 result. As a team, the Maroons had 23 shots, 10 shots on goal. Sophie Pilarski kept the clean sheet for UChicago, stopping one shot in a full 90 minutes of action.
The Maroons return to Chicago for their home opener against Penn State-Behrend on Friday, Sept. 9 for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
