CHICAGO – University of Chicago's top-ranked men's tennis program swept North Central on Saturday afternoon at the XS Tennis Complex.

The Maroons won their fourth-straight match to open the spring season and completed their third-consecutive sweep with a 9-0 win over North Central. UChicago notched three victories in doubles led by No. 3 doubles pairing Biren Reddy and Sachin Das' 8-3 result. 

At No. 2 doubles, Arjun Asokumar and Pat Otero defeated their oppponents 8-4 while the No. 1 doubles team of Andrei Leonov and Derek Hsieh secured an 8-5 win. 

Asokumar (6-3, 6-3), Hsieh (6-4, 6-2), Das (6-0, 6-2) and Leonov (6-3, 6-2) all cruised in their respective singles matches as well with straight-set victories. Emil Grantcharov, at No. 4 singles, battled back from a 7-6 defeat in the opening set to claim 6-4, 10-4 wins in the final two frames. Marek Michulka rounded out the lineup with a 6-0, 6-1 dispatching of his opponent.

UChicago takes on DePauw at XS Tennis on Sunday, February 12 at 10 a.m. in a tune-up before taking on No. 12 Denison on February 19.
