INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 1-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team defeated No. 12-ranked Denison University by a 7-2 score in Sunday's neutral-site matchup.
The Maroons improved to 6-0 while the Big Red dropped to 4-1.
UChicago claimed two of the three doubles points to start the day. Andrei Leonov and Derek Hsieh combined for a dominant 8-1 win at No. 1, while Arjun Asokumar and Biren Reddy secured an 8-5 victory at No. 3.
Five of the six singles matches also went to the Maroons. John Walentowicz made quick work of his opponent at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-1 margin. Asokumar (No. 1), Hsieh (No. 2) and Leonov (No. 5) all won in straight sets. Jack Wong prevailed in a third-set super tiebreak at No. 6 with scores of 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
